SEA SHELLS BY THE SEA / LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK STATE

THIS IS A LADY CRAB SHELL, IT WAS FOUND ON THE BEACH AT LONG BEACH, LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK STATE. YOU CAN FIND THEM FROM CANADA TO GEORGIA.
IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL, IT IS HARD TO TELL, BUT IT IS MARKED WITH A PURPLE PATTERN ON THEIR SHELL.

LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK STATE
THEY LIVE ON THE ATLANTIC SURF CLAM. THE SURF CLAM ALSO IS EATEN BY HUMANS. THEY USE THEM TO MAKE CHOWDERS, AND SUSHI.

FISHERMEN SAY IT IS EXCELLENT FOR BAIT, WHEN THEY ARE FISHING FOR STRIPED BASS, AND OTHER SPECIES.

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.....................RIZZI
